Medical Education Resources
The TSSIS is currently implementing an independent educational programme to assist doctors in the diagnosis of TSS, thereby preventing further deaths from this rare but serious illness. This educational programme is being co-ordinated under the guidance of the Medical Advisory Panel.
Activities directed towards medical professionals include:
- Free Booklet: Toxic Shock Syndrome: A Health Professional's Guide and Supporting video presentation. Available in the UK only, free of charge, by sending email or download
- Advertising in key medical publications such as the Royal College of General Practitioners' Reference Handbook
- Distribution of information to healthcare professionals through third-party groups such as Health Promotion Units, Occupational Health Nurses etc.
- The TSSIS holds an extensive library of medical research papers available on the subject of TSS.
Toxic Shock Syndrome: A Health Professional’s Guide Leaflet and Video
A guide to TSS for the medical profession. Entitled ‘TSS: A Health Professional’s Guide’, the booklet provides essential information on the pathology, diagnosis and treatment of toxic shock syndrome.

A campaign poster to highlight the importance of taking Blood Pressure measurements as a diagnostic aid to cases of shock.
